All about the 13 Days Start From Addis Ababa – Option 2.

I proposed two options of itinerary and you can choose one of the Tour schedules below. It is an ideal and flexible program. The itinerary for the south is highly flexible. There is a specific day for markets. You have to be on the markets on a due day to attend the colorful markets But, there is no specific day for ceremony and festival. The driver has contacts in all villages of Omo valley. If something is to happen in one village, we will leave the plan aside and drive to the village to be a part of the event.

  1. Day 1 Arrival & City Tour

    Arrive at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, meet with your guide, and head to your hotel for check-in and breakfast. Site seeing activity of Addis Ababa including the national museum- the final resting place for ”Lucy”, visit also the Trinity Cathedral, Entoto Panoramic view and the oldest Palace of Menelik II. Finally, visit the different sections of Merkato-the largest open-air market in Africa. O/N. Hotel

  2. Day 1 Addis Ababa to Arba Minch.

    Leave your hotel for the drive to Arba Minch via Butajira-Hossahina road. On the way, visit the rock church of Adadi Mariam, and make a stop at Tiya Stella field. Lunch on the way. Late in the afternoon arrive in Arbaminch.

  3. Day 3 Chencha & Lake Chamo

    Drive to the top of Guge mountain on which the Dorze tribes settled. The Dores were once warriors and now turned to agriculturalists. Live in an elephant-shaped hut, these tribes are famous for their weaving culture. You will be introduced by your guide to how these people are living. Back to Arba Minch. After lunch, boat trip on Lake Chamo to visit the Crocodile Market and Hippo farm. Spot so many bird species. O/N. Paradise Lodge.

  4. Day 4 Arba Minch to Jinka

    We will today’s activity by the drive to Jinka-the capital city for the southern Omo Valley Region. After some miles, you will pass through Konso town, the settlement for the hard worker people-the Konso People and who are considered to be the first people to introduce Terracin in Ethiopia. Lunch stop in Weito- the marketplace for Tsemay tribes. After lunch head to Jinka; on the way, you will meet with Tsemay, Bena, and Ari tribes.

  5. Day 5 Mursi Village and Museum

    Drive to Mago National park to process the entry permit for the park to visit the Mursi tribes. These tribes are famous for their lower lip plate(for women) and the Donga or stick fighting(for men)-believed to be the path to boyhood to adulthood. The Mursi live in Mago national park territory. After the lunch break, visit South Omo Museum and Research center. Also, visit the village of Ari tribes.

  6. Day 6 Karo & Turmi

    Head to visit another Omo Valley tribe who settled at the shore of Omo River-The Karo Tribes- who are agro-pastoralists and considered to be the master of Body painters. Picnic lunch on the way. In the afternoon, arrive in Turmi- home for Hamer tribes. Having their own typical culture, the Hamer tribes are the most welcoming, friendly, and Photogenic tribes. Their dressing style and hairstyle make the Hamer women very different from others. Bull Jumping-another typical culture for the Hamer man and Evangady”Dancing at Night” are some of the performances not to be missed while you visit these tribes. These performances are taken place during the Wedding- after harvesting.

  7. Day 7 Dassenech Tribes and Turmi Market

    Drive to visit Dassenech tribes who are living on the other side of the Omo River. You will cross the river by local boat to visit their village. Back to Turmi and visit the Hamer market in Turmi(Monday), visit also Hamer village.

  8. Day 8 Turmi to Konso

    Leave Turmi for the drive to Konso. On the way, visit the village of Arbore tribes who have similar culture with the Borena Oromo. Upon arrival in Konso, you will visit the Koso village and the Konsos’ Chief who has a remarkable influence on dealing and solving problems for the society.

  9. Day 9 Konso to Yabello

    After breakfast, visit ”New York in Konso” which is a beautiful land formation by erosion. Picnic lunch on the way, late in the afternoon arrive in Yabello.

    Excursion trip to visit Elsod and sing well.

  11. Day 11 Yabello/Yirgalem

    Check out from your hotel for the drive to Yirgalem. On the way enjoy the surrounding dense coffee forest. You will visit a coffee farm. Arrive in Yergalem Aregash Lodge situated in the middle of the forest. Walk around to spot so many bird species.

  12. Day 12 Yirgalem to Langano

    Drive to Awassa to visit the fish market at the shore of Lake Awassa. Spot so many bird species. Head also to Wendogenet to enjoy the surrounding forest and to explore the source of the hot spring close to the hotel. Lunch in Wendogenet Wabishebelle Hotel. In the afternoon drive to Langano-another rift Valley Lake.

  13. Day 13 Langano to Addis Ababa

    Leave the hotel for the drive to Addis Ababa. On the way visit Lake Zeway for its bird species and fish products. Lunch stop in Mojo. You will arrive in Addis Ababa after visiting the Crater lakes in Debre Zeit. In the evening, dinner in a traditional restaurant and cultural dance, head to the airport for an international flight.
